Winter is fast approaching, which means you should definitely make this easy Cinnamon Raisin Apple Crisp recipe before apples are out of season! It would be perfect for brunch on Thanksgiving morning or an easy dessert casserole to bring to a Thanksgiving potluck dinner.
Cinnamon Raisin Apple Crisp is my #1 requested recipe this fall (coworkers and guests are loving it!) and our whole family enjoys it. The crisp travels easily and is allergy friendly for those who are sensitive to dairy & gluten. I love that the kids can eat this crisp as a snack or alongside some type of protein for breakfast. It makes for a nice change from our usual Grain Free Pancakes.
Each year, we usually purchase several boxes of apples from a local family farm. After months of keeping them in the garage, I use a handy device that quickly and easily peels, cuts, & cores the apples in order to prep them for freezing.
When it’s time to make Cinnamon Raisin Apple Crisp, I simply pull out a quart freezer bag stuffed full of about 6-8 apples, thaw them, throw in a few yummy ingredients, dump it in my deep dish pie plate, add the topping, & bake. Super easy!
Crisps are our favorite freezer dessert. In order to save time and dishes, I always make two crisps and freeze one unbaked crisp for later. When I’m in a pinch or craving something delicious, I simply thaw the crisp and bake it per the usual instructions.
Give this Cinnamon Raisin Apple Crisp a try! The filling has the perfect texture (not too gooey!) and is super flavorful with its spices & raisins. For the topping, use the recipe listed below or make it Paleo by making the topping recipe from my Grain Free Berry Crisp.
If you can tolerate butter, then opt for grass-fed butter in this recipe for an amazingly rich taste while enjoying its many health benefits.
Can’t tolerate butter? No worries! Use refined coconut oil (also full of health benefits) for a Vegan option. You may also use unrefined coconut oil but it will produce a slight coconut flavor. I’ve actually been making Cinnamon Raisin Apple Crisp with coconut oil all year because our youngest daughter does not tolerate dairy.
