Making your own Homemade Baby Wipes is easy and cost-effective. But I know it might take more convincing that that simple sentence to get you making these wipes. I know this, because my very own dear friend refused to make them until I recorded a video for herof myself making them in under 2 minutes flat.
Fast forward a few years and this friend of mine now has diapered a total of four children and been using and loving this homemade baby wipes recipe for years. So … give it a try! I think you are going to love it 🙂
Making your own Homemade Baby Wipes is easy and cost-effective. All you need is:
- 2 containers (I found mine at Walmart for $5/each)
- Sturdy unscented paper towels
- Organic olive or coconut oil
- Dr. Bronner’s unscented Castile baby soap
- Water
- Few household things (e.g. knife, pen, ruler, measuring cup/spoons)
So first, just cut the paper towels in half with a sharp knife. Then …
Remove the cardboard and pull a little bit of the paper towel out the middle (this will be the first wipe you use).
Pour in the liquid (see recipe), put the lid on, let sit x 30 minutes, and then the wipes are ready to use. The wipes keep well for 1 1/2 – 2 weeks depending on the temperature of your house before they will mold (no preservatives!).
The cost per wipe varies based on what brand of paper towels you choose. The brand that works best for me is just the store brand carried at my local grocery store. I have found them to be sturdy (no tearing during use) and they also fit easily into the medium-sized containers I purchased. My cost per wipe is $0.01.
