Homemade Garlic Chive Hummus {No Tahini} has great flavor and a smooth texture that is excellent with cut vegetables, tortilla chips or as a sandwich spread.
Homemade Garlic Chive Hummus No Tahini is a wonderful afternoon snack, whether for the kids after they arrive home from school or a quick pick-me-up at the office. It’s easy to make, saves money and you get to choose your ingredients. If you’re looking for a healthy spread for a sandwich, this is just the ticket!
When shopping at the health food store, I always check the distressed produce basket for money-saving deals. Last night, I found organic chives. I wasn’t sure what I would put them in, but since I can’t seem to get them to grow in my garden, I tossed them in the shopping cart. Homemade Garlic Chive Hummus No Tahini was a perfect fit for this bargain find. You might be wondering, why can’t I grow something as simple as chives? Caring for my garden is a challenge: my family lives in a rural area where chipmunks and rabbits hungrily feast on some of my produce long before I can harvest it.
When buying pre-packaged organic hummus, you’ll often spend $4 to $5 on a 10 oz. container. If you buy organic canned garbanzo beans, blend and add your own spices, you’ll probably only spend half that price. I like to double the recipe to save time in the kitchen. If you make your own Homemade Garlic Chive Hummus then store it in a covered glass bowl, you’ll also save the resources required to produce packaging material.

- Vitamix I am so thankful that 25+ years ago my husband agreed to this expensive blender! It is so powerful and is still working after years of grinding nut butters, smoothies, soups, food prep and nightly ice cream making.
