Homemade Gluten Free Naan

Ingredients

Flat Bread

  • 1 tsp organic cane sugar
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water No more than 105 degrees F.
  • 2 cus Namaste Organic Gluten Free Flour Blend
  • 1/4 cup Namaste Organic Gluten Free Flour Blend for rolling out bread
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp lard for greasing the cast iron pan
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt

Topping

  • 3 Tbsp Organic Coconut Spread or melted grass fed butter
  • 6 sprigs fresh cilantro leaves

Instructions

Naan

  1. In a small bowl combine sugar, yeast and warm water. Let set about 10 minutes until the yeast is active and foamy.
  2. Dump the flour into the mixer bowl. Add the yogurt, oil and yeast mixture. Mixing for 4 minutes.
  3. Cover the bowl with a damp towel and place in a warm area of the kitchen. Let double in size, about an hour.
  4. Dump the dough onto a lightly floured surface, sprinkle top with additional flour and form into a flat ball. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions.
  5. Using a rolling pen, roll out each portion into an 8" circle.
  6. Heat a lightly greased, cast-iron pan or griddle on high heat. Place dough on hot surface and cook about 3 minutes until the bread puffs up. Flip the bread and cook another 3 minutes.

Topping

  1. Spread Coconut Butter on top of Naan and sprinkle with cilantro leaves.
