Easy Crockpot Steel-Cut Oats {Coconut & Banana}

Easy Crockpot Steel-Cut Oats {Coconut & Banana} are wonderful to wake up to. No sugar added, but plenty sweet and full of hearty flavor to start the day.

  • 2 medium bananas ripe & sliced
  • 1 can coconut milk full fat
  • 1 1/4 cup filtered water
  • 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 Tbsp coconut oil broken into pieces OR grass fed butter
  • 1 cup steel cut oats gluten free
  • 1 Tbsp flax seed ground
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt


  1. Brush inside of 3 1/2 quart crockpot with Cocount oil. Add all ingredients, stir, cover and cook for 7 hours.

  2. Serve steel cut oats in a bowl with optional toppings. Stores in fridge for one week or freeze for a later date.

  3. Reheat by adding water or milk to a sauce pan with oats added and heat on medium for just a couple minutes.

  4. Recipe can be doubled, but add one hour cooking time. Must use a 6 quart crockpot or larger.

  5. Optional Toppings:  toasted coconut, sliced bananas, fresh or frozen berries or other fruit, chopped nuts, maple syrup or honey, yogurt and/or milk.
